HC Deb 02 March 1959 vol 601 cc5-6W
53. Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement regarding the anti-British propaganda broadcast to East Africa and, in particular, Zanzibar by the Cairo Radio; and what representations he is making about this.

Mr. Profumo

Cairo Radio's Swahili, Somali and Arabic programmes are heard in East Africa, including Zanzibar. These broadcasts include much anti-British and anti-Colonial propaganda. Her Majesty's Government deplore inflammatory broadcasts but no representations have been made.
