§ 83. Mr. Lewisasked the Minister of Education how many letters he has received from Members of Parliament, educational and religious organisations and the general public, respectively, regarding the question of financial assistance for denominational teaching; what was the general nature of these communications; and what was the nature of his replies.
§ Mr. Geoffrey LloydIt would require a disproportionate amount of time and effort to answer the first part of the Question, but some of the many letters I have received recently have favoured an increase in grants to voluntary schools, while others, mainly from Free Churchmen, have opposed it. My reply to these letters has been that I have not yet reached any decision.
