§ 74. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is yet in a position to make a further statement as to the noxious fumes, said to contain arsenic content, which trouble the residents in and about the Bannermill Lane area of the city of Aberdeen; if the officers of the Scottish Office Department of Health have yet completed their analyses of samples; and with what result.
§ Mr. MaclayAnalysis of the fume discharged from the chimney of premises in the Bannermill Lane area indicates an arsenic content of rather less than 0.1 parts per million, which, I am advised, does not give cause for concern. A further meeting between the Corporation, my Department and the firm involved is to be held on 3rd March to consider the general question of how best to improve atmospheric conditions in the area.
