§ 63. Mr. Leaveyasked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the ruling of the Restrictive Trade Practices Court that the yarn spinners' price fixing arrangements shall not continue and of the consequences of that ruling upon employment in the cotton spinning towns, as anticipated by the Court, he will introduce legislation to broaden the scope of the Distribution of Industry Act, so as to hasten the introduction and development of new industries in the affected areas.
§ Mr. J. RodgersAs my right hon. Friend told my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Knutsford (Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenport) on 29th January, we shall do all we can to mitigate any hardship that may result from the implementation of the Court's decision. The application of the Distribution of Industry Acts to these areas does not require legislation.
