asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the closure of the Aberbaiden and Pentre collieries, he will take further action to secure tenants for the Government-owned factories in Maesteg which have been idle since July last; and whether he will take steps to introduce new industries in the Kenfig Hill and Pyle area.

Many of the miners at the Aberbaiden and Pentre collieries will be offered work at other collieries. As I told the hon. Member on 16th December, we are trying to find suitable tenants for the Maesteg factories, and if a suitable industry were willing to go to the area we should give it every help.
