HC Deb 14 December 1959 vol 615 c92W
45. Mr. D. Price

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what proposals have been put forward at the United Nations for finding a more satisfactory and permanent solution to the chronic shortage of United Nations funds, noted by the Secretary-General in his budget report of last August.

Mr. R. Allan

The General Assembly on 5th December decided to increase the Working Capital Fund from $23.5 million to $25 million in 1960; to authorise the Secretary-General to borrow from certain special funds and to negotiate short-term loans from Governments. The General Assembly urged Governments to pay any arrears of their contributions and requested the Secretary-General to press for earlier payment of contributions.
