HC Deb 14 December 1959 vol 615 c92W
49. Mr. Brockway

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how the British delegate voted in the General Assembly of the United Nations on the resolutions asking France not to carry out her projected bomb test in the Sahara and all countries not to proceed with tests while the Geneva talks for the controlled cessation of tests continue; and which delegations voted for and against or abstained from voting on each of these resolutions.

Mr. Profumo

The United Kingdom delegate voted against the first resolution mentioned by the hon. Gentleman, in company with fifteen other nations. On nuclear tests in general, he voted for the resolution tabled by Austria, Japan and Sweden and abstained on the resolution tabled by India. Full details of the voting are available in the Library of the House.
