§ 58. Mr. G. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will now reconsider the cost of travel imposed on Craftsman Hancock who _raveled from Cyprus to attend his father's funeral; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. H. FraserMembers of the forces serving overseas are not entitled to travel at public expense to attend a funeral unless in special circumstances their presence is essential. Craftsman Hancock was aware of this. He was granted privilege leave and it was found possible to provide him free with a seat on an aircraft to the United Kingdom. A free seat for the return journey was not available and he booked and paid for his return flight before he left Cyprus.
