§ 86. Mr. Prenticeasked the Minister of Labour whether the favourable trend in the reduction of accidents, described in the Annual Report of the Chief Inspector of Factories for the year 1957, has been continued into 1958; and whether he will indicate the percentage of improvement.
§ Mr. WoodThis year, for the first time, accident statistics have been published at quarterly intervals in the Ministry of Labour Gazette. Those for the first quarter of the year were published in the Gazette in May, and those for the second quarter in August; those for the third quarter will be published in November. These are all provisional figures, subject to correction at the end of the year.
It is necessary to take account of several factors in drawing deductions from accident statistics, and it is desirable
