HC Deb 04 February 1958 vol 581 c163W
103. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many British Trade Commissioners there are in Sierra Leone; what is the scope of their work; and if he is satisfied that this branch of the service is sufficiently staffed there.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

There is at present no Trade Commissioner in Sierra Leone. The Trade Commissioner in Accra is responsible for dealing with trade matters arising in Sierra Leone and the Director of Commerce and Industry of the Sierra Leone Government acts as his local representative. My right hon. Friend is, however, reviewing this arrangement and he is considering a proposal that a Trade Commissioner's office should be opened in Freetown.
