HC Deb 09 December 1958 vol 597 c36W
100. Sir T. Moore

asked the Minister of Works whether he will consider an extension of the annunciator in some spot in the Public galleries so as to enable visitors, unable to see the speaker of the moment, to know who is speaking.

Mr. H. Nicholls

This was considered in 1956 by the Select Committee on House of Commons Accommodation, etc., but was not recommended. At least two machines would be required and even if soundproofing devices were fitted they would still make a certain amount of noise.
