103. Sir I. Clark Hutchison

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the average cost per patient per week in the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, excluding the Simpson Memorial Maternity Pavilion, and in the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, respectively.

Mr. Maclay

The average weekly cost of maintaining an in-patient in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and in Glasgow Royal Infirmary during the year ended 31st March, 1958, was £20 9s. 7d. and £26 3s. 1d., respectively.

104. Sir I. Clark Hutchison

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state the total number of nurses, trained and undergoing training, per one hundred staffed beds in the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, excluding the Simpson Memorial Maternity Pavilion, and in the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, respectively.

The ratios at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and Glasgow Royal Infirmary at 30th September, 1958, were 69.8 and 73.8, respectively.
