HL Deb 30 January 1957 vol 201 c340WA
LORD HANKEY

asked Her Majesty's Government for the following information about Japanese nationals serving sentences in Japan: (1) How many are held in Sugamo prison or elsewhere on behalf of Great Britain; (2) How many are on parole; (3) What are the prospects of further release of such prisoners.

THE EARL OF GOSFORD

There are no Japanese war criminals held on behalf of Great Britain in Sugamo prison or elsewhere. Two Japanese war criminals convicted by United Kingdom Military Courts are on parole. The question of further releases from prison does not, therefore, arise.

House adjourned at a quarter before eight o'clock.
