§ 64. Mr. Edward Evansasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has discussed with the River Boards' Association the question of the trapping of migratory fish by river boards; if he is aware of the anxiety of net fishermen operating in estuarial waters as to how far their livelihood will be affected by any regulations he may make in this connection; and if he will undertake to discuss this matter with representatives of the fishermen likely to be affected.
Mr. AmoryMy officials met representatives of the River Boards' Association last summer at that body's request to discuss the powers of river boards in relation to the trapping of migratory fish; but no proposals to this end have yet been submitted to me. I am aware of the fishermen's anxiety and I can assure the hon. Member that if proposals should be made which would involve changes in public netting rights, the net fishermen will have full opportunity for stating their views.
