§ 46. Mr. John Howardasked the Minister of Health when he will introduce legislation to ensure that ophthalmic opticians and ophthalmic optical students receive more instruction from qualified medical men on the lines of the recommendations of the interdepartmental committee which reported in 1952.
§ Mr. Walker-SmithThe Bill for the registration of opticians introduced by my hon. Friend the Member for Wembley, South (Mr. Russell) provides for a General Optical Council which, among other functions, would be responsible for settling appropriate standards of training and qualifications for opticians.
