§ Lieut. - Colonel Bromley - Davenportasked the Minister of Labour whether he will consider introducing legislation to set up a court or tribunal to receive claims from all persons suffering damage 294W to themselves or their property, or suffering consequential loss in their business undertakings, as a direct result of violence by strikers, with a view to the trade unions concerned meeting such claims.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodNo. The use of violence in trade disputes is already specifically prohibited under the Conspiracy and Protection of Property Act, 1875. It is open to any person who has suffered damage or loss as a consequence to take civil action against the individuals concerned.
