asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will give an assurance that the state of emergency in Cyprus will continue so long as the Governor considers it necessary for the safety of British subjects.

Yes. I have already made it clear that the Emergency Regulations will be relaxed only as and when conditions make it safe to do so.
