Mr. Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether as a token of friendship between the British people and the peoples of Poland and Hungary, he will propose discussions with these two countries for the purpose of granting them a loan without political ties to enable these Governments to improve the standard of living of their people.
§ Mr. Dodds-ParkerMy right hon. and learned Friend strongly shares the hon. Member's desire to help the peoples of Poland and Hungary. But he does not think that his proposal is practicable.
