§ 60. Mr. Pitmanasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will instruct the United Kingdom representative in the United Nations to move for a resolution recommending any nation which sends delegates to United Nations meetings to accept, in return, the Secretary-General of the United Nations and a small personal staff whenever the General-Secretary expresses the wish to visit that country.
§ Mr. Ormsby-GoreHer Majesty's Government consider that visits to member States by the Secretary-General of the United Nations should, in general, be a matter for arrangement between the Secretary-General and the Government concerned. They do not believe anything would be gained by the passage of a resolution in the United Nations recommending member nations to accept the Secretary-General whenever he expresses the wish to visit their country.
