§ 71. Mr. J. Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware of the lack of secondary education in Sierra Leone; and what action he is taking to improve this condition.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe need for more secondary schools and for the improvement of existing ones was recognised by 209W the Education Commission which visited Sierra Leone last year. The Sierra Leone Government propose to build within the next four years one new technical secondary school and four new junior secondary schools, and to rebuild or extend nine of the thirteen existing secondary schools partly with the object of extending sixth form work in them. This should double the present number of 240 students taking the West African School Certificate each year.
