HC Deb 14 November 1955 vol 546 c9W
Captain Kerby

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs why he is keeping in being the Foreign Office establishment at Wiston House, near Steyning, Sussex, known as the Wilton Park Centre; the total cost of this establishment during 1954; and what proportion of that cost comprised rent.

Lord John Hope

The purpose of the Wilton Park Centre is the furtherance of sound Anglo-German relations through lectures and discussions about political, economic and social problems of mutual interest, and I am satisfied that it continues to do valuable work. The total cost of the Centre during 1954 was £35,200, of which £1,450 comprised rent.
