asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether a date has yet been fixed for the coming into operation of the new freight charges scheme.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

No. The British Transport Commission expect to submit a draft scheme to the Transport Tribunal very soon. When the Tribunal has settled the scheme, after public inquiry, it will fix the date on which it will come into operation.
