HC Deb 12 December 1955 vol 547 c132W
91. Sir F. Medlicott

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of the anxiety felt concerning the proposed appointment of Franca, a former Fascist official, as Secretary General of the Italian Trust Administration in Somalia; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Turton

No. Since Dr. Franca, who was appointed by the Italian Government, took up his duties in Mogadishu in April last, he has shown his concern for the advancement of the Somalis in full accordance with the trusteeship obligations assumed by the Italian Government.

I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply to a similar Question on 5th December from the hon. Member for Newport (Mr. Peter Freeman).
