§ 54. Mr. Elwyn Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the total sum collected by the Lord Mayor's National Flood and Tempest Distress Fund; and how much of this sum came from public funds and how much from charity.
§ Major Lloyd GeorgeI am informed by the chairman of the Lord Mayor's Fund that the total amount subscribed to the fund was £5,146,675. The total spent to date is £6,793,063. Public funds have been drawn on to meet the difference and there will be further calls until the work of the fund is completed.
