asked the Minister of Food to give an assurance to British pig producers that, in so far as it may be possible for them in the future further to increase the production of quality pigs in this country, due regard will be had for this fact in the making of future agreements for the importation of pig carcases and bacon from overseas.

Yes, and as the Government pointed out in the White Paper (Cmd. 9104) on the last annual review, regard must also be had to the costs of production.
