Leverasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance to state the date on which the Rock Carling Committee was appointed; when the Committee's report is expected to be available for publication; and what action he proposes to take to ensure early consideration of the report and implementation of the findings.
§ Brigadier SmythThe Committee was appointed in July, 1950, and made reports in April, 1951, and January, 1953. In the latter report it recommended that further clinical inquiries should be made before final conclusions were reached on 65W the matters submitted to them. Over 5,000 pensioners were accordingly specially examined and the results have been supplied to the Committee, which is considering them. My right hon. Friend will consider the final report as soon as he receives it but he is not yet in a position to say when it will be available.
