86. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Education to give an estimate of the cost of implementing a policy of equal pay in respect of teachers.

Taking into account the recent recommendations of the Burnham Committee, I estimate the additional cost to public funds at rather over £14 million a year, as respects teachers serving in grant-aided schools and establishments within the purview of my Department.
