HC Deb 11 February 1954 vol 523 c156W
87. Brigadier Medlicott

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if his attention has been drawn to the fact that during 1953 there were over 3,000 malicious calls for the fire brigade in the London area alone;how this figure compares with the position in the provinces;and how the total of these malicious calls throughout the country compares with previous years for which records are available.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

Figures for malicious calls are not among the fire brigade statistics which have been collected centrally, but such information as I have suggests that the proportion of calls that are malicious does not differ greatly between the County of London and the rest of the country.
