HC Deb 03 February 1954 vol 523 cc47-8W
95. Mr. Royle

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will give an assurance that the Salford Corporation Ambulance Service will be allocated a new frequency for their radio-telecommunication when Band III is allocated to competitive television; and if the Government will bear the cost of the change.

Mr. Gammans

Clearing the whole of Band III for television will involve moving the Salford Corporation's ambulance service and other mobile services, and all these, when required to move, will be assigned new frequencies. The corporation was warned, when its licence was issued, that it might be necessary at a later date for a change to be made in the frequencies allotted. I regret that the Government cannot undertake to bear the cost of such changes.
