VISCOUNT ELIBANKasked Her Majesty's Government, having regard to the Answer given by them in reply to a Question put by him on February 20, 1952, that they had no intention whatever of intervening in the Chinese civil 658WA war and had assumed no commitments of any sort in that direction, whether that statement still represents their policy in relation to the Chinese civil war.
THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THE MARQUESS OF READING)I refer the noble Viscount to my reply on December 20 to the noble Lord, Lord Henderson. The policy of Her Majesty's Government in these matters is unchanged. With regard to Formosa, they have no obligation other than such general obligation as may arise from their membership of the United Nations.
House adjourned at twenty minutes before one o'clock until Tuesday, 25th January, 1955.
