HC Deb 20 December 1954 vol 535 cc205-6W
25. Mr. Orbach

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance the reasons for referring to a divisional medical office a patient, whose name has been supplied to his Department, who, having been seen by her general practitioner, is at present attending hospital and is under treatment.

Mr. Peake

The reference was made in order to obtain a second medical opinion on the question of the claimant's incapacity for work, because the illness described on her medical certificates had lasted longer than is usual in such cases. There was no indication on the certificates that she was attending hospital or that there were any special features in her case.

34. Mr. Mikardo

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance when Dr. L. Henisch, 6. Mansfield Road, Reading, may expect to receive a reply to his letter of 14th November relating to pensions matters.

Mr. Peake

A reply was sent on 15th December.
