HC Deb 14 December 1954 vol 535 c110W
56. Mr. Osborne

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that Ronald Hewitt, a crane driver employed by the Staveley Iron and Chemical Company, near Chesterfield, has been "sent to Coventry" by his workmates for refusing to join the one-day strike ordered by the Amalgamated Engineering Union to which they belong, although his own union, the General and Municipal Workers, had advised their members not to strike; and if he will consult with the Trades Union Congress to see what steps can be taken to end such practices.

Mr. Watkinson

I understand that the ban on talking to Mr. Hewitt has now been lifted, following representations from his own union.
