HC Deb 30 April 1954 vol 526 c164W
Mr. G. M. Thomson

asked the Assistant Postmaster General the estimated annual cost of running a travelling post office on Dundee housing estates lacking counter services and the estimated annual revenue from such a vehicle.

Mr. Gammans

The cost of providing service by means of a mobile post office would be at least £1,500 a year or about three times that of providing it in the normal way. There would be no appreciable addition to Post Office revenue since the business transacted would generally be transacted in any case at other post offices.
