asked the Minister of Education the number of students, men and women, respectively, who were admitted to teachers' training colleges without formal academic qualifications during the sessions 1951–52 and 1952–53, respectively.

Miss Horsbrugh

115 men and 339 women students were admitted to training colleges in 1951–52 with the special permission of area training organisations because they had not passed one of the examinations specified in the regulations. The corresponding figures for 1952–53 were 213 men and 562 women.
