HC Deb 25 November 1953 vol 521 c36W
63. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Food whether, in view of the difficulty of local authorities, because of shortage of staff, in enforcing the law that condemned meat must not be used for human food, he will limit its sale to licensed firms only, to be processed for non-human uses in licensed premises subject to strict supervision.

Major Lloyd George

No. I propose shortly to introduce revised conditions of sale, about which I am consulting local authorities and interested associations, and I am satisfied that these will provide adequate safeguards so far as sales of condemned materials from Government slaughterhouses are concerned.
