§ 63. Dr. Stross
asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware that the quarry at Whitecliffe 16W Farm, which he has authorised for reopening, is only a few miles east of the upper reaches of Dovedale; and whether he will fix a five-mile limit in connection with this National Park within which quarrying will in no circumstances be permitted.
§ Mr. Marples
In making decisions recently regarding the opening or extension of quarries in North-West Derbyshire my right hon. Friend has tried to strike a fair balance between the claims of amenity and economic advantage, including employment. The decisions must be judged as a whole.
