HC Deb 18 November 1953 vol 520 cc167-8W
78. Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will make a further statement upon emigration from Mauritius, in particular, to Tanganyika and North Borneo.

Mr. Lyttelton

I referred in the Adjournment debate on 21st October, 1952, to a committee which was to consider the population problem of Mauritius and to study possible remedies, including emigration to other Colonial Territories. This committee was not finally appointed by the Governor until May, and I am awaiting its report.
