HC Deb 18 November 1953 vol 520 c169W
84. Mr. Awbery

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies to what extent regulations governing coastal traffic in Great Britain apply also to this class of work in Singapore and Malaya; and if he will take steps to bring about a uniformity particularly with regard to those regulations which closely affect the life and health of seamen.

Mr. Lyttelton

United Kingdom legislation in these subjects is normally brought to the notice of the Governments of Singapore and of the Federation of Malaya. Apart from modifications made necessary by local conditions, the Regulations in force in those Territories governing coastal traffic are largely based on those of the United Kingdom.
