asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will state, as percentages, the commissions awarded to university graduates, graduates of military colleges and men from the ranks, in each of the past five years.

The officer intake is very varied and exact statistics cannot be given in the form requested. The table below, with explanatory notes, sets out the main categories of the intake of Regular officers and gives information about the university graduates and other rank service.
