HC Deb 26 March 1953 vol 513 c101W
77. Mr. Deedes

asked the Minister of Agriculture how many apple and pear producers have so far registered under the Apple and Pear Marketing Scheme.

Mr. Nugent

I am informed by the promoters that up to today 11,362 producers of apples and pears had registered under the Apple and Pear Marketing Scheme. This number is probably less than half of the number of producers believed to be affected by the scheme. Producers who have not registered by 31st March will be unable to vote on the question of whether the scheme is to continue, and it is very desirable that those producers who have not yet applied for registration, should do so in order to secure a fully representative poll.
