HC Deb 17 March 1953 vol 512 c182W
93. Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking, through the Forestry Commission, to establish sawmills making use of floating timber.

Mr. J. Stuart

It would not be practicable to establish sawmills of this kind, since in this country the floating of timber is not an economic or a convenient way of transporting it.
