asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if the proposed changes in local government in the Western Region of Nigeria have now been sanctioned.

After the deletion of certain provisions which were considered to beultra vires the Western Regional legislature, the Western Region Local Government Bill became law on 26th February. A Bill now before the Central House of Representatives delegates to Regional legislatures such legislative powers as will enable the deleted provisions, with one exception, to be restored.
