HC Deb 10 March 1953 vol 512 c100W
87 and 88. Mr. Hargreaves

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government (1) if he is aware of the burden which falls upon local authorities in connection with disused burial grounds in their care; and if he will introduce legislation to make it more easy for local authorities to deal with disused burial grounds;

(2) if he has considered the number and dates of the various Burial Acts in force; and if he will introduce legislation which is more simple and more in conformity with modern requirements.

Mr. Marples

My right hon. Friend is aware of the need for simplification of the law relating to burials, and of difficulties in connection with disused burial grounds, but he cannot say at present when it will be possible to introduce legislation on the subject.
