asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what steps he has taken during 1952, and what steps he will be taking in 1953, in order to reduce substantially the administrative costs of his Department.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

The staff of my right hon. Friend's Department has been reduced by 1,795 during the calendar year, 1952, and the financial saving in administrative costs for that year is about £1 million. My right hon. Friend keeps these matters under continuous review.
