asked the Minister of Transport whether he will issue a White Paper detailing the extent of the trade done by, and through, the means of British-owned ships with Communist China since the entry of the Chinese Communists into the Korean war.

No. I do not think the issue of a White Paper would serve any useful purpose. My hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs has today made a full statement about our trade with China in reply to Questions by my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Lewes (Major Beamish) and the hon. Member for Swindon (Mr. T. Reid).
