HC Deb 11 June 1953 vol 516 c25W
28. Mr. H. Wilson

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will now take action substantially to ease strategic controls of goods exported to Eastern Europe and China.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

No. These controls have been imposed by us and other Governments for cogent reasons of national security, and they must be maintained until the circumstances giving rise to them have ceased to exist.
