HC Deb 30 July 1953 vol 518 c179W
Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Education how many children in Breconshire are on the register of handicapped children; how many are receiving education at home or at school; how many are not being provided with such facilities; how many are awaiting admission to special schools; and what provision exists for further education, if required, after school age within the county.

Miss Horsbrugh

I understand from the local education authority for Breconshire that 50 handicapped children are known to require places in special schools. Of these, six are already at special schools and 40 of those awaiting places are attending ordinary schools; none are being educated at home. There is no special provision within the county for the further education of handicapped pupils over compulsory school age.
