HC Deb 28 July 1953 vol 518 c133W
110. Mr. Nally

asked the Secretary of State for War what action he is taking to end the situation at Moston Hall Military Hospital, Chester, under which neither the number nor the qualifications of the hospital staff have been adequate to ensure proper care and supervision of patients.

Mr. Head

The medical officers at this hospital, who are all fully qualified, are up to strength. The subordinate nursing staff, comprising both Royal Army Medical Corps and Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps other ranks, are similarly at full strength. There are, however, 18 nursing officers less than the establishment. This deficiency almost exactly reflects the worldwide shortage of these officers. I am most anxious to get all the nursing officers that the Army needs and in the past few years there has been a steady improvement in the position.
