§ 109. Mr. Doddsasked the Secretary of State for War why 22747580 Signalman K. F. Davis, while awaiting discharge for a severe degree of flat feet was required to take part in a field exercise on 21st March which was followed by his being admitted into the Military Hospital, Catterick, on 25th March with rheumatic fever.
§ Mr. HeadUnder the unit medical officer's current instructions, this soldier was on 21st March being employed on light duties. Approval for his discharge on medical grounds was not notified to the unit until two days later. Since I told the hon. Member that Signalman Davies took part in this exercise, I have made further inquiries; and it now appears that, while he paraded with the remainder of the unit on the alarm signal, he did not in the event leave the barracks with a 133W mobile column, but was employed in a sentry post on the perimeter and as a messenger.
§ 111. Mr. Rossasked the Secretary of State for War what steps he has taken and is taking to trace the whereabouts of 22443865 Private Armour, King's Own Scottish Borderers, last seen in Korea on 4th May, 1952.
§ Mr. HeadEvery possible inquiry is being made but I regret to say that no new information has come to light.
