HC Deb 23 July 1953 vol 518 cc68-9W
Mr. Awbery

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works as representing the Lord President of the Council, if he is aware of the unsatisfactory results of the present methods of conducting research into the causes and cure of cancer; and what steps are being taken to apply new processes to this problem.

Mr. Molson

I am, of course, aware that the problem of the causes and cure of cancer has not yet been solved, but I cannot accept that this is due to any fault in the methods of conducting research. Valuable results have been obtained both as regards the causation and treatment of certain forms of the disease. New processes suggested by advances in general scientific knowledge are constantly being brought to bear on the subject.
